I am a registered Clinical Psychologist. I have completed a Master’s in Clinical Psychology at the Australian College of Applied Professions in Sydney, and hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Psychology at the same institution. I have a Bachelor of Science through Macquarie University.
I provide evidence-based treatments for a range of mental health difficulties and life stressors. I integrate theory and practice from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Schema Therapy, based on your needs and goals.
I work with people across the lifespan and have an interest in working with adolescents and adults who are experiencing difficulties with attachment, relationships, adjustment difficulties, and grief and loss.
I also have a particular interest in supporting clients experiencing symptoms of anxiety disorders (panic disorder, phobia, generalised anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder) and trauma (post-traumatic stress disorder, acute stress disorder, and adjustment disorder), however I feel comfortable seeing clients presenting with other difficulties.
I believe therapy to be an important relationship. As a client, you should feel empowered and motivated to come in and discuss difficult aspects of your life. My job is to create a safe space and help you make sense of your emotions and thoughts, and provide you with advice and strategies that are evidence-based.
I also think that therapy in a private practice setting has long been considered an exclusive and formal service, but this goes against my personal values. My therapeutic style is a little bit more informal, whilst remaining respectful and within ethical boundaries.
Finally, I believe that it can be difficult to reach out, and it can be disappointing when we open up to show our vulnerability, for this to be dismissed. Hence, I strive to always offer support and resources to clients in linking up to support in- and outside-of-sessions.
I enjoy cooperative role-playing games and more broadly videogames. I enjoy the challenge of an escape room!
I enjoy cooking and especially reviving and rediscovering Italian recipes.
I enjoy going to the gym and currently looking for a more regular sport - I used to practice Jodo (not Judo!) before moving to Australia in 2011.
I listen to a (very) broad range of music and always excited to listen to new genres.
I am trying to learn the tenor saxophone.
If you are worried I may not be a good fit for you, but you have worked up the courage to make it so far: let me help you. Send me an email explaining what type of therapist you're looking for and I may be able to point you out in the right direction.
